Unconditional

Rhythm rides consonants
Melody spills from vowels

BLOSSOM
My cheeks grow red raspberries
when you call my name.
You dust them off and eat them all up with a smile.

text from mom says
I love you, I miss you
forgot to reply
what to cook tonight?
frozen pizza or the
“Spanish rice-a-roni”?
laying in my bed
with pants and the lights on
its only 9:30
wish I was still as
excited by chances,
instead I am scared.

GROWING
the storm canceled school
tide pulled back glistening
I can only see now
the bench overlooks
a magnificent view
and I still feel stuck

cut into pieces
put back together
rearranged
